Does Optus have better coverage than Vodafone?

This question is a bit like which came first, the chicken or the egg? I've spoken to friends who have baeen on optus, 3 and vodafone, and they all say different things. I think it is very dependent on your location and how many towers each network has in that particular area.

None of these carriers are perfect and you will probably experience drop out at some time of both data and cellular reception.
